What Notion is
Notion is an AI workspace. Teams can bring everything into one system of record, ask questions and get answers with citations, and use AI agents to keep recurring work moving.
A newsletter operator can use it to keep story ideas, notes and team tasks in one place. Notion AI features vary by plan.
There is a Free plan. Paid plans charge a fee per member.
Who it is for
Notion is used by Enterprise, small businesses, startups and developers. By plan, Free is for individuals, Plus for small teams and professionals, Business for growing businesses, and Enterprise for large organizations.
A newsletter operator would use it to keep ideas, drafts and tasks in one place. It is a workspace, not a writing assistant or a sending tool. Students and educators can get Plus free for one member with a school email.
What you can do with it
Notion does three jobs. Capture brings everything into one system of record. Find gives answers with citations. Automate uses agents to keep work moving around the clock.
Other items include databases with subtasks and dependencies, forms, sites, Notion Calendar, charts, Meeting Notes and Research mode (Beta). Plus adds custom forms without Notion branding and custom sites with a header, theme, favicon and Google Analytics.
Plans and pricing
Free is $0. Plus is $10 per member per month, and Business is $20. Enterprise is custom. Yearly billing saves up to 20%.
Business adds Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search (Beta), SAML SSO, private teamspaces and premium connections. Enterprise adds zero data retention with AI providers, SCIM and audit logs. Custom Agents are free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits. Custom domains cost $8 a month each billed yearly, or $10 monthly.
What it works with
Plus has basic connections to Slack and Google Drive. Business adds premium connections such as GitHub and Asana. Enterprise search can read Slack and GitHub, with Jira, Box, OneDrive, Salesforce and Asana in Beta.
Notion also offers one-way database syncs from Jira, GitHub and Asana, Zapier, a public API, webhooks, and embeds for GitHub, Jira and Figma. Workers (Beta) and a CLI run custom code.
Things to know before you choose
Free has 5 MB file uploads, 7 days of page history and 10 external guests. Page history is 30 days on Plus and 90 on Business. Paid plans have unlimited uploads, up to about 5 GB per file.
Each member uses a paid seat, and guests are free. Refunds: full refunds for monthly plans within 3 days and annual plans within 30 days. Free, Plus and Business keep AI data with providers for 30 days. AI does not train on your data unless you opt in.
