Gemini is Google's AI assistant. It can be used for writing, planning and learning, and it works with a Google Account.
A newsletter operator could use it to draft and outline issues and to run Deep Research. Paid Google AI plans add higher limits and, on Pro and Ultra, Gemini in Gmail and Docs.
Who it is for
Gemini has personal plans and business plans. Personal plans are Free, Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra. Paid Google AI plans are for ages 18 and up.
For businesses, Gemini Enterprise Business edition is aimed at small businesses and teams of up to 300 seats, with no IT setup needed. A solo newsletter writer would look at the personal plans. A team already on Google Workspace might look at Enterprise.
What you can do with it
The Gemini app on the Free plan includes image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas and Gems. Gemini Notebook is a research and writing assistant. It also has scheduled actions and file upload and analysis.
Paid plans add more. AI Plus adds video generation and Daily Brief. AI Pro adds a 1 million token context window. Uploads of up to 1,500 pages can be analyzed.

Free is $0 with a Google Account and includes 15 GB of storage. AI Plus is $4.99 a month with 2 times the Free usage and 400 GB. AI Pro is $19.99 a month with 4 times the Free usage and 5 TB.
AI Ultra starts at $99.99 a month for 5 times the AI Pro limits, and $199.99 for 20 times. Gemini Enterprise Business is from $21 per seat per month. Standard and Plus editions start at $30 per seat and go through sales. Prices are US dollars.
What it works with
Paid plans include Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids. AI Pro and Ultra also include Gemini in Chrome with auto browse.
Gemini Enterprise works with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, HubSpot and Jira, plus a library of data-source connectors. The Gemini web app runs in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera and Edge.
Things to know before you choose
Usage limits are compute-based and depend on prompt complexity, features used and chat length. They refresh every 5 hours until you hit a weekly limit, and you can buy AI credits to extend them.
You can cancel anytime, but partial billing periods are not refunded except where law requires. Gemini in Gmail and Docs is available in select languages. Some features work without signing in, but saving activity needs a Google Account. Enterprise customer data is not used to train its models.
