What lightbreak is
lightbreak is newsletter software for local media. It gathers local stories and listings, writes them in a publication's voice and assembles one edited issue, then pushes it to an email platform.
A local newsletter publisher would use it to build issues faster. Most issues ship in under 15 minutes, compared with 2 to 3 hours by hand.
A review agent checks links, photos, prices and dates against the original sources before sending. A person still decides when an issue sends.
Who it is for
lightbreak is built for local newsletter publishers and local media teams. It was built by publishers who run more than 20 local newsletters.
A publisher who sends a local issue every week and spends hours gathering news, events and listings would use it. A writer who wants a blank page and full manual control, or a national newsletter with no local sources, would use less of what it does.
What you can do with it
lightbreak pulls in local news, restaurants, businesses, homes, events, pets and jobs, and builds them into one edited issue. It writes stories in the publication's voice, including a The Gist and Why It Matters format.
It makes GIFs for homes, pets and restaurants, and shows a preview of what readers get. A review agent checks links, photos, prices and dates against the original sources. A person decides when an issue sends.
Plans and pricing
Prices are not published. Custom pricing is based on how many newsletters a publisher runs, and you book a call for numbers.
Moving existing subscribers costs $0 and all listed features are included. Pricing, billing period and inclusions are agreed directly and confirmed in writing, and free or trial access can be changed or ended at any time.
What it works with
For sending, lightbreak pushes finished issues to beehiiv or ActiveCampaign. Subscribers stay where they are.
Its sources include local news feeds, Zillow listings, Google and iCal calendars, pet adoption feeds, job boards, YouTube channels, Google Drive, RSS feeds and direct uploads. It also has an MCP server with 47 tools, so Claude, ChatGPT or another agent can build issues and push drafts. Access needs an account with an API key.
Things to know before you choose
You are solely responsible for reviewing and checking AI-written content before you publish it. You keep ownership of your own content and data.
Services do not auto-renew unless both sides agree in writing. You can stop at any time and keep access to the end of the paid period. Payments are non-refundable unless the law or a written agreement says otherwise. A person still decides when an issue sends.
