What Curated is
Curated is an editorial newsletter platform. You save links as you find them, then pick the ones you want and add your own notes to build an issue.
A newsletter operator can save links with a bookmarklet, a Chrome extension or by emailing them in, and team members can contribute. Each issue goes out by email and can also live on a web edition with a searchable archive. The platform includes sponsorship tools and paid subscriptions.
It is free for up to 1,500 subscribers, and above that the monthly price rises in tiers.
Who it is for
Curated is for people who publish newsletters, including those who want to earn from sponsorships or paid subscriptions.
The product is built around saving links and adding your own notes. A link-based newsletter, such as a weekly roundup of articles with commentary, fits how it works. An operator who writes long original pieces from scratch may use fewer of its tools.
What you can do with it
Quick Capture saves content with a one-click Save to Curated link or by email, and team members can contribute. Effortless Editing lets you review a stream of links and assemble each issue, with image hosting and resizing handled for you.
Other features are layouts for both web and email, sponsorship and booking management, paid subscriptions, audience management with list import and export, and analytics on who read each issue and which links were popular.
Plans and pricing
Curated charges by total subscribers across all your publications. It is free up to 1,500 subscribers. It is $39 a month for 1,501 to 2,500 subscribers, and higher tiers up to 50,000. Above that, you contact sales.
Every feature is on every tier, including sending. Your whole team can be invited at no extra cost. Invoice payment is available with a minimum commitment of $1,000.
What it works with
It works with Stripe, which you connect to accept paid subscriptions. Links can be saved with the Save to Curated link or sent in by email.
You can import an existing mailing list and export your list at any time. Content can be emailed into Curated, which lets contributors add links from the inbox they already use.
Things to know before you choose
Curated allows up to 31 sends a month, and you can send monthly, weekly or daily. The free trial needs no payment information and lasts until you publish your first issue.
There are no long-term contracts, and cancelling keeps the publication active until the current period ends. Curated takes 0% commission on paid subscriptions. Past 50,000 subscribers, pricing is by contact with sales.
