What Kit is
Kit was formerly called ConvertKit. It is an email-first operating system for creators, covering email creation, automations and audience management.
A newsletter operator can use it to send emails, build landing pages and forms, run visual automations, take paid newsletter subscriptions, and use Recommendations to appear in other creators' emails.
Paid plans include a free migration service, and there is a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.
What MailerLite is
MailerLite is an email marketing platform for email marketers and businesses that want advanced email tools without complicated software. More than 1 million businesses use it.
A newsletter operator can use it to send campaigns, build forms and pop-ups, run automations, make landing pages and websites, and take paid newsletter subscriptions.
A/B testing is on all plans, including the free plan.
Which one fits
The free plans pull in opposite directions. Kit's is far larger, at up to 10,000 subscribers, but has one user and no visual automations. MailerLite's stops at 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, with two seats.
Once you pay, MailerLite's Comfort plan starts at $12 a month and Kit's Creator plan is $33 a month billed yearly for 1,000 subscribers. A list that can stay on a free plan for a long time gets more room on Kit. A small list that needs paid features soon starts lower on MailerLite.
Is Kit the same as ConvertKit?
Yes. ConvertKit is now Kit.
Does Kit have a free plan?
Yes. The free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited landing pages, forms and broadcasts. Visual automations and removing Kit branding need a paid plan.
Is MailerLite free?
Yes, up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, with 2 seats, 3 automations and 1 website. Sending locks if active subscribers go above 250.
How does MailerLite count subscribers for billing?
Active subscribers are counted cumulatively within each billing cycle, and the count resets monthly on your billing anniversary. On paid accounts, going over a limit moves you to the next tier and your card is charged.
